 Thank you for inquiring about the 2008-2009 Bobcat Hockey Open Tryouts. As in the past, we will have open tryouts in different geographical locations to help lessen your travel costs. These locations include return stops in Michigan, Minnesota, and Colorado. This year we are excited to announce we have also added a camp in the Chicago area. We are in the process of securing a host hotel in each area to further reduce your travel costs. Our final camp will be held in Bismarck, North Dakota the first week of August.
The Bobcat organization is one of the oldest franchises in the NAHL and will be celebrating its 11th Anniversary during the 2008-2009 season. We have built a strong tradition and we have a great fan base and community support. Players in the league will tell you it is a favorite place to play and the Bobcat organization is viewed as a class organization within the league.
Throughout the league it is perceived that tryouts serve the sole purpose of being a fundraiser for the team. However, each year the Bismarck Bobcats have had players crack the lineup out of our open tryouts; including 5 players on the 2007- 2008 Bobcats. Probably the greatest success story along these lines would be Eric Kattelus who made the team out of an open camp and was the 2005-2006 rookie of the year.
We are committed to giving all of our tryout candidates a fair and honest look and we will invite no less than 10 players from each of our open camps to our final camp. We will give constructive feedback to each player that attends camp upon their request. One camp fee will cover all tryouts in the event you make the final camp. The number of players will be limited to 80 so you will want to get your application deposit ASAP.
