Five Bobcats Tabbed for Top Prospects Tournament

FRISCO, TX – When the North American Hockey League announced the rosters for the 2018 Top Prospects Tournament—scheduled for February 27 & 28 in Plymouth, Mich.—it was revealed that Bismarck Bobcats Patrick O’Connor, Cooper Haar, Alex Pollock, Ryan Ullan and Joe Mancuso will all be headed to the league’s annual all-star event.

“We are proud of all five of our guys selected to Top Prospects this year; they have all worked hard and are very deserving of their trip to Michigan,” stated Bobcats head coach and general manager Layne Sedevie. “Usually at Top Prospects, division teams are full of 20-year-olds, so it says a lot about the play of guys like Cooper and Alex that they are 1999 birthyears on Team Central.”

With the Bobcats having been in fifth place at the February 5 standings freeze, O’Connor, Haar and Pollock will each represent Team Central with the Cats’ three allotted roster spots on the division’s squad; Ullan and Mancuso each earned at-large selections to the NAHL Selects Red roster, one of two Top Prospects rosters reserved for propsects identified by NHL Central Scouting as players to watch for the 2018 NHL Draft.

It is the first time the Bobcats have placed multiple players on a Selects roster since the inception of the Selects teams at the 2012 Top Prospects Tournament and only the second year the Bobcats have had a player named to the Selects (2015, Jared Turcotte).

“When you look back over the years, with all the success our franchise has had, five players is still one of the highest totals we’ve ever had at Top Prospects—which tells you a lot about the talent that our team has in a very tough Central Division,” added Sedevie.

In 11 Top Prospects Tournaments, only three Bobcat teams have sent more players to Michigan in February: the 2011-12 Bobcats had a franchise record seven representatives; both the 2008-09 and 2009-10 sent six players to the all-star summit.

In the immediate future, the Bobcats open a three-games-in-three-nights slugfest in the Subway ND Cup against the archrival Minot Minotauros on Friday with at 7:15pm home contest.

Tickets are available for Friday and Saturday’s home dates: fans can buy and print tickets online 24 hours a day at or by clicking “Shop Now” at the top of the team’s Facebook page.
