Red, White and “Oooh”

BISMARCK, ND – With their game against the MHL’s Red Stars—a collection of junior all-stars from Russia, Latvia and Belarus—just two weeks away, the Bismarck Bobcats revealed the special edition USA uniforms that they will don for the first trans-Atlantic junior hockey showdown in Bismarck in nearly two decades when the Red Stars face off with the Bobcats December 21.

“We are really excited to take on the Russians, no doubt,” admitted Bobcats forward Dan Zawacki, who stands second on the Bobcats in points with nine goals and 20 assists, “and these jerseys are getting us even more jacked up for the 21st. They look nice.”

The jerseys feature a primary color of white with navy blue shoulders adorned by a single white star on each side. The ends of the sleeves and waist are navy blue with sublimated ribbons of red, white and navy blue along with blue and white stars all the way around the uniform.

In the center of the jersey is the traditional Bobcats logo, with the word “BOBCATS” featuring the American flag’s stars and stripes in the background.

“No question these are some sharp sweaters,” conceded Bobcats head coach and general manager Layne Sedevie, who has seen pink Relay For Life jerseys and green St. Baldrick’s jerseys in his time with the organization. “We’ve been excited for them since we placed the order with the league and when they arrived this week it was like Christmas came early for everyone—even the front office.”

It is the first time the Bobcats will don red, white and blue uniforms, giving fans a new uniform to see while a once-in-a-lifetime opponent comes to town.

The rumble with Russia will be the only game in which the Cats will wear the USA uniforms, and the team plans to auction the authentic game-worn jerseys at a time to be announced early next week.

“Fans will have a chance to own a piece of not only Bobcat Hockey history, but a piece of international hockey history with these jerseys,” beamed Bobcats team owner Thom Brigl. “We are thrilled with how they look and we’re sure the fans will definitely want to take one home in two weeks.

A couple hundred great seats remain for the Bobcats-Red Stars clash, and can be purchased in-person at the Bobcat office, by calling the box office at 222-3300 or can be bought and printed online at BismarckBobcats.com.
