Bobcat Defender Breidenbach Commits to Concordia

MOORHEAD, MN – Fresh off of a two-year NAHL career with the Bismarck Bobcats, defenseman Tanner Breidenbach has committed to play NCAA hockey for Concordia College starting in the fall of 2018.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to play college hockey and continue my career at the NCAA level,” stated Breidenbach, who joined the Bobcats in 2016 as a tender signee out of Apollo High School in St. Cloud, Minn., roughly 170 miles east of Concordia’s campus. “To be able to play near family and friends, just a couple hours away, makes it that much better.”

A 1997-birthyear blueliner, Breidenbach had four goals and 14 assists in 92 appearances for the Bobcats but missed most of the second half of the 2017-18 season with a foot injury suffered while blocking a shot in practice in late December.

“Tanner is a guy who cares so much about the defensive end and blocking shots and also cares so much about the guys in the locker room and the culture of his team,” credited Bobcats head coach and general manager Layne Sedevie. “That’s what made him such a valuable part of our team for two years and certainly what will make him a valuable player at Concordia for the next four.”

Breidenbach will join 2016-17 Bobcat teammate Kyle Siemers, who just wrapped up his freshman season in February, at Concordia.

“I chose Concordia because I like Coach [Chris] Howe and his staff and the Fargo-Moorhead area,” added Breidenbach, whose college destination is almost half way between Bismarck/Mandan and his home town of St. Cloud. “The campus is really nice and I’m excited to get there in the fall.”

With Breidenbach’s commitment, the Bobcats now have nine current or former players committed for the 2017-18 campaign, including: Breidenbach, Jared Resseguie (Denver), Tanner Vescio (Northern Michigan), Grant Johnson (Northern Michigan), Ryan Ullan (Northern Michigan), Adam Stacho (American International), Alex Trombley (Ohio State), Andrew Bellant (Michigan Tech) and Tristan Ashbrook (RPI).

The Bobcats’ busy offseason continues in May and June with Open Pre-Draft Camps in Michigan and Minnesota, respectively: players born between 1998 and 2002 who think they have what it takes to be a Bobcat can sign up to try out 24 hours a day at BismarckBobcats.com.
