Bobcats Snare Underwood in Interdivision Trade

BISMARCK, ND – The Bismarck Bobcats have acquired the services of rookie forward Travis Underwood from the Amarillo Bulls, sending future considerations to Amarillo.

Underwood, who started the season with the Coulee Region Chill, has 18 points on seven goals and 11 assists in 27 games during the 2012-13 campaign.

“We’ve been after Travis since our open camp in Minneapolis last May,” expressed Bobcats head coach and general manager Layne Sedevie. “He was pretty high on our draft board but the Chill got to him first. He’s a big forward who can make plays and shoot the puck well; we think he’s going to be a great addition to our front end.”

A native of Grand Rapids, Minn., Underwood is a former high school teammate of Bobcats second-year forward Patrick Moore. The two played together for two years with the Thunderhawks of Grand Rapids High School.

The 6’2” center is the fourth player Sedevie has acquired by trade since the beginning of December, along with Stanislav Dzakhov, Sam Wolfe and Roope Hintz.

Monday the team also announced that it has traded forward Kevin Becker to Coulee Region.

On the ice, the Bobcats will wrap up their current three-game home stand with two games at the VFW Sports Center against the fourth-place Brookings Blizzard, starting Friday at 7:15 PM.
