Nov 6, 2023

BISMARCK, ND – The Bismarck Bobcats have tendered forward Aaron VanWie for the 2024-25 season.

VanWie, a Division I Lindenwood University commit, is currently playing for the NAPHL’s Islanders Hockey Club in the Boston, Massachusetts area. The ‘06 born player is a native of St. Louis, Missouri.

“Aaron is a player we are very familiar with as a Bobcat staff,” Bismarck Assistant General Manager Niko Kapetanovic said. “Having attended our main camp and getting to know him, made him a no brainer for us.”

In 76 games last season with CarShield AAA 16u in St. Louis, VanWie tallied 73 goals and 44 assists, totaling 117 points. He averaged an impressive 1.54 points per game.

“Aaron is mature beyond his years and is a high end forward who scores, competes, and makes a pile of plays,” Kapetanovic said. “The Lindenwood commit will be a crucial part to our forward group next year and we are excited to see him continue to develop out east.”

Current Bobcat defenseman Matthew Rafalski is also committed to Lindenwood.

Tender agreements are contracts handing a North American Hockey League team rights to a player for the upcoming season. If VanWie decides to play in the NAHL, he would join Bismarck.
