Defenseman Tenders with Bismarck
Bismarck, ND – The Bismarck Bobcats have tendered defenseman Colin Hedland.
“He is a player we are extremely excited about adding to our group for next season,” said Garrett Roth, the Bobcats Director of Player Personnel. “He is an exceptional skater that competes and defends well.”
“I’m excited to be back and see all these other kids that they’re bringing in,” Hedland said. “Just excited to be back in Bismarck and be a Bobcat again.”
Hedland, 17, spent last season with the Iowa Wild AAA U16 program, collecting 7 points across 29 combined games at two levels.
“Bismarck was the first to really give me a shot,” Hedland said. “It’s just a great place. I love the town, I love the people. The coaching staff was unreal.”
“He does a great job of breaking pressure in the defensive zone with his elusiveness,” Roth said. “A defenseman that we feel has the ability to not only add offense to our back end but also can be a difference maker.”
Hedland played in one game with the ‘Cats this year, spending time with the team in the preseason and at the NAHL Showcase. He currently plays with the Des Moines Buccaneers AAA U18 team.
“I’d like to thank the coaches for believing in me and knowing I can bring something to the team,” Hedland added. “And obviously I want to thank my parents and former coaches. I wouldn’t be who I am today if they weren’t there for me.”
