Cats to Wrap Road Swing with Aberdeen

Oct 13, 2010

ABERDEEN, SD – The Bismarck Bobcats will wrap up their four-game October away schedule with a single game against the Aberdeen Wings this weekend; a 7:15 PM Friday night showdown at Odde Ice Center.

The game will be the third installment—out of 12—for the Midcontinent Sports Dakota Cup, awarded to the team with the highest point total in the season series. The series is currently tied at two points a side, as both teams have won a game in the other’s home arena.

In the most recent matchup between the Cats and Wings, Aberdeen dealt the defending national champs a 5-3 defeat in front of the Bismarck faithful, rallying for four third period goals to shock the Bobcats.

The contest featured a pair of fights and included the ejections of Bobcat skaters Emerson Auvenshine and Will Preston.

Both teams found success in the week between their last square-off, as the Wings handed the front-running Coulee Region Chill their first regulation loss of 2010-11, 6-4, in Aberdeen while the Bobcats are 3-1-0 in that span.

Winners of two of their last three games, Aberdeen has jumped into sole possession of fifth place in the Central—led by the hot play of forward Cory Ward, who has tallied five goals in his last four contests.

The Bobcats, meanwhile, have surged into a first-place tie atop the Central Division thanks in large part to the line of Charlie Mosey, Frank DeAugustine and Dan Zawacki and that unit’s combined five goals and six assists in their last four games together.

Named NAHL Goaltender of the Week on Monday after stopping 51 of 52 shots last weekend, Ryan Faragher paces the Cats in net with a 5-2-1 record, a 2.00 GAA and a .923 SV%.

Friday’s 7:15 PM game will be broadcast locally on the radio home of Bobcat Hockey, Super Talk 1270, KLXX-AM, and worldwide at http://nahl.fasthockey.com/. Pre-game coverage will begin at 6:45 PM CT.
