Faragher Is NAHL Goalie of the Month

Dec 8, 2009

FRISCO, TX – The North American Hockey League announced Thursday that Bismarck Bobcats goaltender Ryan Faragher has been named the Goaltender of the Month for November.

In five appearances, Faragher, a 19-year-old from Fort Frances, Ont., fashioned a 3-0-2 record to compliment a 1.55 goals-against average and a .944 save percentage for the Central Division-leading Bobcats.

“Ryan continues to prove why he’s one of the best netminders in the NAHL,” said Bobcats head coach Byron Pool. “He has a tremendous work ethic and it’s shown in his improvement from the beginning of the season until now. If he continues at this pace, he’ll make an excellent Division I goaltender for someone next year.”

On the season, Faragher holds a 9-3-5 record, including three shutouts, to go along with a 1.86 goals-against average and a .928 save percentage in 19 appearances.

“Our league is full of great goalies, so it feels pretty good to be honored as Goalie of the Month,” said Faragher. “It\’s definitely a team award, to me, because our D has been playing great in front of me.

“It\’s nice to be rewarded for all the hard work we\’ve been putting in, but we also know the hard work isn\’t over.”

Faragher is now the clear number-one starter in net for the Bobcats after fellow goaltender Ryan Massa was traded to the Fargo Force of the USHL the day after Thanksgiving.

“The coaching staff showed a lot of faith in me by trading Ryan,” said Faragher, “so going forward I know I’m going to have to push myself to reward that faith.”

The Bobcats return to action on Friday with a 7:30 PM road tilt with the Albert Lea Thunder, winners of two of their last three games.

The game will be broadcast locally on the radio home of Bobcat Hockey, Super Talk 1270, KLXX-AM, and worldwide at BismarckBobcats.com via B2 Networks. The pre-game show starts at 7:00 PM.
