BISMARCK, ND–Four Bismarck Bobcats have been selected to participate in the NAHL’s Top Prospects Tournament, which will be held February 17th and 18th at the Troy Sports Center in Troy, Michigan.
Stanislav Dzakhov (Moscow, Russia), Huba Sekesi (Munich, Germany), Filip Starzynski (Warsaw, Poland) and Aaron Nelson (Bismarck, ND) were selected to join players from the NAHL’s Central Division for one of five teams in the event. Each division of the NAHL has a team, along with a team of NAHL 18U Selects.
The event is for players who do not have a college commitment, and has quickly become one of the most scouted events of it’s kind. Last season, over 170 scouts attended the tournament.
Dzakhov is the Bobcat’s leading scorer, with 19 goals and 35 points this season. He is currently tied for ninth in NAHL scoring, and third in goal scoring.
Starzynski, despite missing 15 games to injury, is fourth on the team in scoring with 28 points on 12 goals and 16 assists. His three game-winners continues to lead the Bobcats, despite his lengthy absence.
Sekesi has anchored the most successful Bobcat line during Starzynski’s absence, and has 27 points on 11 goals and 16 assists.
Nelson has worked more minutes than any NAHL goalie this season (2214:08), and has consistently been among the leaders in his field. His 23 wins is second-most in the league. He currently boasts a 2.30 goals-against-average and a .918 saves percentage.
Along with the four Bobcat players, Bobcat head coach Layne Sedevie has been selected as the assistant coach for the team. He will join Austin Bruins coach Chris Tok on the Central Division staff.
The Cenral Division team will face the NAHL Midwest at 3:30 p.m. Monday, February 17th, then the South on Tuesday, February 18th, at 1 p.m. You can visit the complete Central Division roster by clicking this link.
