FRISCO, TX – Fresh off a road hat trick that helped the Bismarck Bobcats secure their sixth straight win, forward Nick Miglio has earned the second star in the North American Hockey League’s Combat Hockey Three Stars of the Week for October 10, 2011.
It is the third consecutive week a Bobcat has been named one of the league’s Three Stars.
“It’s definitely a huge honor to be named one of the Three Stars; there are hundreds of talented guys around the league and to be singled out among all of them means a lot,” said Miglio, who added a pair of assists to his Saturday hat trick for five points on the weekend. “It’s also nice to see that the hard work of our line [with Bryce Schmitt and Adam Knochenmus] is starting to pay off.
“It seems like the harder we work, the luckier we get.”
The Schmitt-Miglio-Knochenmus line combined for an eye-popping four goals and nine assists in the Cats’ two-game set in Dawson Creek.
Bobcats head coach and general manager had high praise for the Boerne, Texas, native.
“He is strong on the puck and can skate really well,” noted Sedevie. “I think he is starting to get reward for the hard work he has put in the last season and a half.”
Miglio follows teammates Shane Omdahl and Frankie DeAugustine for the award; the Bobcats have had one of the three stars for three of the five weeks of the 2011-12 regular season.
The Bobcats return to action Friday with a matchup against the second-place Austin Bruins at 7:15 PM at the VFW Sports Center. Austin enters the weekend having surged ahead of the Aberdeen Wings for second on the power of a three-game winning streak.
