Ulrich’s Stingy Weekend Earns Weekly Award

FRISCO, TX – A pair of 30-plus-save nights that each yielded wins over the weekend turned into a piece of league hardware on Monday as the North American Hockey League named Bismarck Bobcats goalie Will Ulrich the Central Division Star of the Week.

In home victories over Aberdeen and Brookings, Ulrich allowed just three total goals—his second straight week of allowing two goals in three games—while piling up a total of 74 saves.

“Will had a great weekend and showed a lot of talent in making some big saves to help us get four points at home,” noted Bobcats head coach and general manager Layne Sedevie on Ulrich, an offseason acquisition from the Minnesota Magicians. “Just as importantly, he has started to show the veteran leadership we knew he could bring when we made the trade for him in May.”

The Birmingham, Mich., native was the division’s Second Star of the Week on October 17 after going 67-for-70 in saves at Austin the weekend prior.

Ulrich’s honor marks the third time this season a Bobcat has earned the Central’s top weekly honor, joining defenseman Jordan Fralich (September 19) and forward Tobias Fladeby (October 3).

Also recognized by the league Monday was Parker Mismash, whose goal and two assists against the Wings and Blizzard earned him honorable mention for the award.

With their brief two-game home stand now in the rearview mirror, the Bobcats turn their attention to two straight weeks of road games, starting Friday at 7:15pm with their first visit to Odde Ice Center to face the Aberdeen Wings.

Friday’s road tilt will be broadcast locally on the radio home of Bobcat Hockey, Super Talk 1270 AM, and worldwide on HockeyTV.com–the web television partner of the North American Hockey League–with pregame coverage starting at 7:15pm.

Season tickets are now on sale for the Bobcats’ landmark platinum anniversary campaign fans can get more information or reserve their seats for all of Season Twenty now by calling 222-3300.
