A three-goal second-period blitz highlighted the Bismarck Bobcats’ 3-1 come-from-behind win over the Aberdeen Wings at the VFW Sports Center Friday night.

One week after inclement weather postponed their second half-opening series, the Bismarck Bobcats and Aberdeen Wings will get 2011 play underway with a home-and-home series starting Friday at the VFW Sports Center.

With a record of 19-8-1, the Bismarck Bobcats will come off the holiday break rested, refreshed and–most importantly–sitting in first place in the NAHL’s Central Division.

The Bismarck Bobcats earned a two-game sweep of the Owatonna Express on Saturday, riding a three-goal third period to a 5-1 rout of the Express at the Four Seasons Centre to lock down first place in the Central Division heading into the Christmas Break.

The top spot in the Central Division at the halfway mark of the 2010-11 season will be up for grabs as the Bismarck Bobcats travel to southern Minnesota to take on the Owatonna Express in a two-game series Friday and Saturday at the Four Seasons Centre.

The Bismarck Bobcats hung tough through a 5-on-3 penalty kill, numerous fights and a freak glass-breaking accident to overcome the Austin Bruins 3-1 Saturday night at the VFW Sports Center, completing a two-game sweep of the visiting Bruins.

With a blizzard swirling outside the VFW Sports Center, it was the Bismarck Bobcats putting on a whitewash of their own in front of their home fans as they crushed the visiting Austin Bruins 5-0 Friday.
