The Bismarck Bobcats are proud to announce that forwards Josh Lehto and Zane Rowan have committed to continue their collegiate hockey and academic career at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, ON.
Lehto joined the Bobcats this season after spending the last two years with the Virden Oil Capitals in the MJHL. He was a consistent offensive producer and a difference maker in the faceoff dot. Across the 57 regular season and 13 playoff games that Lehto appeared in, he scored 17 goals and added on 27 assists for a total of 44 points. Lehto also scored what ended up being the Robertson Cup game-winning goal in the final against the Lone Star Brahmas.
“I’m beyond excited to be committing to Lakehead and taking the next step in my hockey career at the collegiate level. It’s an incredible opportunity to play the game I love while being close to home and representing a program with such a strong community behind it. I can’t wait to get started!” Lehto said.
Rowan also joined the Bobcats this season after spending the previous three seasons with the Regina Pats in the WHL. Rowan appeared in 37 regular season games and 13 playoff games for Bismarck this past season. Zane tallied 9 goals to go along with 14 assists for a total of 23 points. Despite being sidelined due to injury for a couple of months in the season, Rowan came back stronger than ever and played a huge role in the Bobcats Robertson Cup run. He mentioned what it means to commit to Lakehead and have a familiar teammate in Josh Lehto
“It’ll be really exciting to play with Josh again. He’s an unreal teammate and all around great person. I’m excited to watch him continue to develop as a player as well,” Rowan said.
Lakehead University plays collegiate hockey in Canada’s USports.
