BISMARCK, ND – Bismarck Bobcats captain Patrick Johnson has announced his commitment to Robert Morris University.

RMU, a Division I program located in suburban Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, competes in the Atlantic Hockey Association.

“This has been a dream of mine since I first started playing hockey and for this to finally come true, I can’t even shape into words,” Johnson said. “There are endless thank you’s to previous coaches, teammates, staff, friends and family, but [the Bobcats] organization has shaped me into the player and person I am today and I cannot thank them enough for all they have done for me and my family.”

Now in his fourth season with Bismarck, Johnson has logged 42 goals and 52 assists to total 94 points through 151 career games. The forward’s 7 points through 8 contests this season ties for second-best on the team.

“What Patrick Johnson has meant to this program is hard to put into words,” Bobcats head coach Layne Sedevie said. “He’s not only a great 200 foot player, but what he brings from a leadership role is one of the best to ever wear a Bobcat jersey. His work ethic and dedication is what every coach is looking for in a player.”

Johnson becomes the fifth current member of Bismarck’s roster to make a Division I commitment. Evan Hunter (Bemidji State), Jakub Kopecky (St. Lawrence), Stephen Peck (Michigan), and Landon Fandel (Northern Michigan) have previously announced their plans to compete at the highest collegiate level.

Since beginning Division I play in 2004, Robert Morris has placed 60 former players in professional hockey. Founded in 1921, the school enrolls approximately 4,000 students, offering 60 bachelor degree programs.
