Rendle Named to NAHL All-Rookie Team

Apr 28, 2010

FRISCO, TX – Bismarck Bobcats defenseman Sam Rendle was named to the North American Hockey League’s all-rookie team following an electrifying debut season on the blueline for the Bobcats.

“It means a lot to receive an honor like being named to the All-Rookie Team,” said Rendle. “I didn’t know what to expect coming into my first junior season, but I was fortunate enough to land into an organization with a great head coach and a group of guys that were great to be around and helped me have a good year.”

In the regular season, Rendle led all NAHL defensemen with 47 points on 10 goals and 37 assists in 57 games.

The Bemidji State recruit also has two goals and seven assists for the ‘Cats during the 2010 playoffs.

“A spot on the All-Rookie Team is a nice individual, regular season award,” Rendle emphasized, adding, “but the most important thing is making sure that I contribute over the next five games so that we can win the biggest team award—the Robertson Cup.”

Joining Rendle on the All-Rookie team are: forwards Bryce Johnson (Topeka), Tanner Kero (Marquette) and Shawn Pauly (Wenatchee); defenseman Alex McLean (Wenatchee) and goaltender Brandon Jaeger (Wenatchee).

The Bobcats open play at their second consecutive Robertson Cup Tournament Tuesday against the three-time defending champion St. Louis Bandits at 4:05 PM central time at the Town Toyota Center in Wenatchee, WA.

The entire Robertson Cup Tournament will be broadcast locally on the radio home of Bobcat Hockey, Super Talk 1270, KLXX-AM, and worldwide at BismarckBobcats.com via B2 Networks. Tuesday’s pre-game show gets underway at 3:35 PM.
