Knochenmus Stuffs Stat Sheet, Nets Weekly Award

FRISCO, TX – Bismarck Bobcats captain Adam Knochenmus had a hand in seven of the Cats’ eight goals during a big divisional road weekend, earning the veteran forward Central Division Star of the Week honors on Monday.

On the weekend, Knochenmus tallied a goal while chipping in six assists as the Cats split games in Brookings and Austin while his line, also including Shane Omdahl and Patrick Moore, totaled six goals and 11 assists.

“Our line has three veteran guys, and we took it on ourselves to try and get the offense going this weekend,” noted Knochenmus, whose team only totaled eight goals in four games on their 2-1-1 west coast swing the previous two weeks. “We started getting to the right areas and creating our own bounces instead of just waiting for our luck to turn itself around.”

In Friday’s 4-3 loss against the Blizzard, Knochenmus scored the Cats’ second goal and had an assist on the other two Bobcat scores; Saturday the Bobcat captain chipped in an assist on Moore’s fourth of the year and had a helper on all three goals of Omdahl’s hat trick in Austin.

Joe Giordano’s first-period goal against the Bruins was the only score of the weekend that Knochenmus did not have a part in.

“Adam is our leader and we had been struggling a little to score, so it was nice to see him produce some points,” said Bobcats head coach and general manager Layne Sedevie.  “What is more important is that he played well against two really good teams that are at the top of our division right now, so that really makes a statement about his ability to come through in the clutch.”

Moore, who had a six-point weekend, was honorable mention for the award.

Knochenmus becomes the third Bobcat to receive the league’s weekly hardware, joining goalies Bryan Nies and Aaron Nelson.
