ABERDEEN, SD – One week after taking an overtime thriller from their inter-Dakota rivals, the Bismarck Bobcats will head south for two games against the Aberdeen Wings, starting Friday, in their first visit to the Odde Ice Center in 2016-17.

The Cats’ 3-2 overtime triumph at home last Friday over the Wings yielded a positive result in the standings, though the process of gaining the win was not ideal in the coaching staff’s eyes.

“Too many turnovers, too many penalties, too many individual plays,” lamented Bobcats head coach and general manager Layne Sedevie, whose team twice surrendered one-goal leads to the Wings Friday. “Now that we’re getting deeper into the season, we hope that our guys can take the mistakes they’ve made in games like [Friday’s] and use them to improve.”

With only five players remaining on the Cats’ roster from 2015-16—and just eight total current Bobcats who played in the Central Division a season ago—playing in Aberdeen will be a new experience for the majority of this year’s squad.

“We’ve been telling the newer guys to expect a cold, noisy barn,” explained second-year Bobcat Jared Resseguie, who scored his first career goal at Odde Ice Center on November 6, 2015. “Their fans get loud and get after [the opposition], which makes it a really fun atmosphere to play in if you handle it the right way.”

Resseguie has performed well against the Wings this season, too, with four (1g, 3a) of his 12 total points coming at Aberdeen’s expense. Goalie Will Ulrich is 6-4-0 overall, with two wins and a .947 SV% against the Wings.

Second-year center Carter Roo continues to lead the Wings in scoring with 12 points on four goals and eight assists. Netminder Matt Ladd started both games between the pipes for Aberdeen last weekend—including a 28-save performance Friday against the Cats—after arriving from Cedar Rapids of the USHL.

Friday’s weekend opener will be broadcast locally on the radio home of Bobcat Hockey, Super Talk 1270 AM, and worldwide on HockeyTV.com–the web television partner of the North American Hockey League–with pregame coverage starting at 7:15pm.
